This folder contains version 1.1 of HyperCard IIGS. HyperCard IIGS is a “for-sale” product that is fully copyrighted work of Apple Computer, Inc. If you have a need to distribute any part of HyperCard IIGS then contact Apple’s Software Licensing department at 1-408-974-4667 and license it.
HyperCard IIGS requires Apple IIGS System Software 5.0.4 or later, at least 1.5 (one and a half) megabytes of memory and a hard disk. Some features in HyperCard IIGS v.1.1 are only available under Apple IIGS System Software v.6.0 or later. The new features in version 1.1 are explained in the "What's New" stack.
Our purpose in providing HyperCard IIGS on the Developer CD is to provide access to the software for our developers. Non-developers are expected to purchase the full product ($69 suggested retail price). If you want/need the manuals (only the software itself is provided on the CD) for this product, then please contact your dealer or Resource Central. Contact Resource Central at 1-913-469-6502 for more information. Please refer all customer requests for HyperCard IIGS to an authorized reseller or to Resource Central (they're handling Apple II APDA products).
Appendix A of the HyperCard IIGS Script language guide details how to interface to external XCMD and XFCN routines. Preliminary interface files for compiling XCMDs and XFCNs can be found on this CD, along with sample XCMD source—in APW and in MPW IIGS formats in the Interfaces folder (inside the HyperCardIIGS folder) of this CD.
A separate conversion utility (HyperMover) can be found on this CD. HyperMover consists of two stacks - one for use under Macintosh HyperCard and one for use under HyperCard IIGS. HyperMover will dismantle a stack into a series of files. Transfer the resulting files to the other computer (from a Mac to a IIGS or vice versa) and reassemble the stack using the other half of HyperMover. The latest version of HyperMover supports translating Macintosh stacks into IIGS stacks and vice versa. Futher details on HyperMover can be found in the folder containing this conversion utility.
In order for you to properly install HyperCard IIGS on your hard drive, drag the entire "HyperCardIIGS" folder to the root level of your hard disk, and drag the “HyperCard.Icons” and “FType.HyperCard” files to the icons folder on your hard disk. If you put HyperCard IIGS anywhere but the root level, be sure to edit the icons that connect your stacks to HyperCard IIGS and be sure to edit the search paths in the Home stack - otherwise, HyperCard IIGS will have problems finding things.
The HyperCard IIGS icons file is NOT needed with version 1.1 if you're using it under Sytsem 6.0. If you're still running under 5.0.4, you'll need to copy the HyperCard IIGS icons file into your boot drive's Icons folder.
